Having now returned to the Colony, I have the Honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 25th August last Io.1209/1912 the contents of which I need hardly say

are disarpointing and the terms now offered by the Government so entirely different from what were originally proposed that I venture to point out to you the many disadvantages and additional burdens now sought to be placed upon the intended Lessee of the land in question by the Government.

BALE OF LAND, In the first place you state that the land be put up to motion in the ordinary manner at a minimum price of Tro cents per square foot. This would inevitably lead to competition by land speculators to the great disadvantage of the Scheme and to the intereste of those whom it is designed to benefit. CROT REIT.

This you state is to be charged on the whole area, no rebate being made for such portion of the

land as is to be used for a Market.

ROADS AND LANES The Government do not now undertake

to maintain the roads and lanes after they have been

constructed.

PUBLIC ROAD,

The Government now asks that the Lesare

do contribute a sum of $8,000 towards the construction

of a road of a width of ten feet instead of a road of

a width of fifteen feet for which the Lorree was

originally asked to contribute the sum of $6,000. A

ten foot road is in my case too marrow for the purposes

of the "Reservation".
